When It was announced President Bush was going to be
in Greenville, SC, the employees of the mail order companies Medals of
America and Ties of Honor wanted to show their appreciation for his support
of US military forces and veterans. Each division in the companies came
together to contribute to the President, a unique gift he could use every
day. The flag and display case division of Medals of America prepared a beautiful walnut
finished box inlaid with the Great Seal of the United States. The ladies,
who custom mount veterans' medals and awards, engraved a beautiful brass plate
for the President
from the employees of Medals of America and Ties of Honor. Meanwhile, the
men and women of Ties of Honor, which makes the only official U.S.
Regimental silk ties, rolled the striped silk ties of The Army, Navy,
Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard and inserted them into the box. The handsome
regimental striped ties were accompanied of course by a beautiful
Indigo silk tie woven with the reoccurring palmetto and crescent,
the state logo of South Carolina.
Congressman Jim DeMint of Greenville presented this special memento
to the President during his visit. Congressman DeMint is
shown wearing the Air Force Tie with stripes symbolizing the contrails
of the missing man formation. The overall feeling during the
presentation was a reflection of pride in America's servicemen and women
coupled with the pride the Greenville firms felt in serving America's veterans.
Medals of America is located in Fountain Inn, SC and is the nation's
leading supplier of medal and flag display cases and insignia to
American Veterans and their families. Ties of Honor, part of Medals of
America, designs and manufactures in the United States the complete line
of official Regimental Ties for America's elite units.
